Jeanne Sheppard Pearson

Peggy Jeanne Sheppard Pearson, 91, a resident of Fernwood Drive, died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at her home. Born on March 1, 1932 in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Noah Sheppard and Mary Selma Richardson Sheppard, and was the widow of the Rev. Clyde Preston Pearson. Jeanne was a member of First Baptist Church Henderson where she taught Sunday School in the Joy Class and the Dorothy Currin Class, a member of the church choir, and a Deacon. She was also a member of the Sorosis Book Club, Tea Society, and the Alpha Delta Kappa Teaching Society. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at various schools in our community for 35 years in including C. G. Cradle, E. M. Rollins, E. O. Young, and Kerr-Vance Academy. She has a fund in her name that allows youth to attend theater productions at McGregor Hall . A Graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, April 6th, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. Mark Hopper. She is survived by two daughters, Paula Pearson Adams (Tony) of Durham and Anna Pearson Skirvin (Rodger) of Monroe; four grandchildren, Alexandra Kate Adams (Erin), Lydia Grace Adams, Ava Suzanne Adams, and Emma Jeanne Skirvin Sueling (Andrew); and two great granddaughters, Annalyn Rae Sueling and Ella James Sueling; her loving caregivers who have been by her side for the last 3 years, Pattie Burwell, Shirlina Burwell and Mary Burwell. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Patsy Anita Sheppard; and two grandchildren, Preston Ray Skirvin and Lacy Sheppard Skirvin.
