HENDERSON-Jerry Lee Carden, Sr., age 71, a resident of PruettHealth Durham and a former resident of Garden Walk Apartments, passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center.Born on June 19, 1944, in Durham County, he was the son of the late Coy Carden and Carrie Morgan Carden, and was the widower of Marjorie Speed Carden.Jerry was a member of East Side Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He was employed as a cook at several restaurants for 31 years.Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle and will be missed by everyone who was blessed to have known him.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Lee Carden, Jr. of Creedmoor;brothers, Rev. Bobby Carden (Peggy) of Bladenboro,Don Carden (Sherry) of Elkin, Homer Carden (Bernie) of Durham, and Tony Carden of Charleston, SC; and one sister, Brenda Carden Walls (Reid) of Florida.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Magdalene Carden Hudson; and two brothers, Thomas E. Carden and the Rev. Billy M. Carden.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Aubrey Florence and the Rev Bobby Carden.Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday from 1 until 2 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.
