HENDERSON – Jerry Spencer “Mack” Delbridge, 84, of Valley View Drive, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Maria Parham Health. Born September 3, 1941 in Vance County he was the son of the late Leona Griffin Delbridge and Raymond Warren Delbridge.
Jerry served in the United States Army and retired as Captain and also served in the National Guard. He also taught at Vance Senior High School where he retired after 22 years. Jerry finished his career with the Vance County Sheriff’s Department after working as a bailiff in the Vance County court system for many years. Jerry was a member of First United Methodist Church Henderson where he was active in the Methodist Men’s Sunday School Class. His civic involvement included membership in the Henderson Optimist Club where he was past president, formerly served as Zone 5 Lt. Governor and was on the Board of Directors. When not at work or volunteering, Jerry could be found working out at the YMCA, acting in local theater productions and serenading crowds.
Jerry is survived by his wife Hilda Joyner Delbridge of the home; his daughter Hilary Delbridge and husband, Russ Cunningham of Raleigh; his son Spencer Ryan Delbridge of Portland, OR.; two grandchildren Stella Lanas Delbridge and Francisca Lanas Delbridge; his cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by three sisters, Pat D. Gupton, Frances D. Jones, and Mildred D. Stanley; and his brother Willard Warren Delbridge.
Family and friends are invited to visit during a luncheon beginning at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, January 2, 2026 in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church Henderson. A memorial service with military honors will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church by Rev. George Loveland.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Henderson Optimist Club and retirees of the Vance County Sheriff’s Department.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 114 Church Street, Henderson, NC 27536.
