HENDERSON-Jerry Wayne McGhee, 73, a resident of 94 Kims Lane, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at his home.Born on December 7, 1942, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Frankie Mae McGhee and Hawk Williams.Jerry was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis.He was a retired Supervisor for Public Service Gas Company and was the owner and operator of the former McGhees Grading and Landscaping Company.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home by the Rev. Jake Roberson.Burial with Military Honors will follow at Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Inscoe McGhee of the home;six daughters, Kristal M. Dickerson of Kittrell, Gerry M. Jones (Tim) of Norlina, SoynjiaMcGhee of Killeen, TX, Melinda M. Shearin, (Nokomus) and Aliyah M. Wright of Henderson; and his special four legged daughter from the home LayLa; nine grandchildren, Candys Johnson, Derrel M. Hagler, J. Roy Hagler (Amber), Zachary Watson, Kirk Dickerson (Megan), Nokomus Shearin, Jr. (Stephanie), Joseph Shearin (Emily), Ryan Shearin, and Robert Whitbey (Jessica); six great grandchildren, Lawsyn Clark, Jacob Taylor, R. J. Whitbey, Ryleigh Shearin, Jayden Shearin, Ava Barham; and his caregiver, Anita Townes.He was preceded in death by one sister, Ferbie Ball; and one brother, Freddie McGhee.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 until 1 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be his grandsons and Jerry Ayscue.
