Jerry Allen Steed, Sr., age 66, a resident of 160 Lone Wolf Drive, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born May 3, 1946, in Vance County, he was the son of the late Will Steed and Mary Bumgarner Steed.He was a truck driver for D & J Express, and a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, at 3:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Ricky Easter.Burial will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Steed is survived by his wife, Darlene Winters Steed of the home; two sons, Jason Steed of Winterville and Allen Steed of Wilson; a step-son, Butch Wright of Henderson; and a step-daughter, Dawn Furr of Henderson.He is also survived by three sisters, Peggy Broome, Kay Moss, and Sandy Fleming all of Henderson; two brothers, Johnny Steed of Henderson and Glenn Steed of Duck; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM till 3:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church and at other times they will be at the home of Tony and Peggy Broome, 307 Twelve Oaks Lane.
Serving as pall bearers will be Gary Freshour, Charles Wilson, Charles Fleming, Leonard Moss, Anthony Steed, Mark Furr, and Larry Short.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Steed Funeral Fund C/O J.M. White Funeral Home, 60 Zeb Robinson Road, Henderson, NC 27536.
