Jesse Lynn Meacham

OXFORD- Mr. Jesse Lynn Meacham, age 91, a resident of Dorsey Rd., passed away Friday January 3, 2025 at Maria Parham Health. Born in Wake County on November 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Jesse Gothran Meacham and Aileen Denton Meacham. He was the former Manager of Henderson Laundry and Dry Cleaners, and was a member of Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church. As a teenager he was saved and joined Tabernacle Baptist Church and found a love for music. For more than 65 years he was a Music Director. First at Westwood Missionary Baptist Church in Winterhaven, Florida and later at Calvary Baptist Church and Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church in Henderson. Jesse was an avid Duke fan and loved doing yard work, especially on his John Deer riding lawn mower. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church by Dr. Donald A. Perkinson. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary Patterson Meacham of the home; two daughters, Debbie L. Lytle (Harry) of Charlotte and Brenda K. Jordan (Lee) of Oxford; a son, Guy D. Meacham of Oxford; two grandsons, Anthony Grissom (Elizabeth) and Jonathan Mertz (Jessica); four great grandchildren, Isla Mertz, Reese Mertz, Sadie Mertz, and Lennox Grissom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Winifred “Wink” Williams and Joyce Paschall; and a brother, Wesley Meacham. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Westwood Pentecostal Church. At other times they will be at the home. Serving as active pall bearers will be Bobby Jackson, Keith Pegram, Ed Tulier, Jesse Pendergrass, Joe Don Robertson, Wayne Perkinson, and Joe Pendergrass.
