HENDERSON- Jesse James Thomas, Jr., 78, a resident of Henderson and native of Trenton, died Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his daughters home in Cary.Born in Jones County on May 20, 1940, he was the son of the late Nellie Littleton Thomas and Jesse James Thomas, Sr.Jesse was a Veteran of the United States Army; he saw active duty in Cambodia and the Vietnam War and retired as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of service.He was retired from the Employment Security Commission where he worked as a Veterans Employment Officer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Margot of the home, one son, James Thomas of Rock Hill, SC, two daughters, Lynn Beasley and husband Keith of Cary, and Delores Mays and husband Chris of Augusta, GA; his sister, Marie Howell of Trenton; and ten grandchildren, Alex, Will, Haley, Paige, Lauren, Jesse, Jay, Caroline, Ada Noel, and Joseph.
