Jewel Hayes Riggan

HENDERSON –Jewel Hayes Riggan, 82, of Mason Street, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at her home. Born May 30, 1943 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Annie Dickerson Hayes and William Ruffin Hayes and was the widow of Henry Peter “Pete” Riggan.

She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Purvis (Danny) of Henderson; one son, Ricky Smith of Chesterfield, VA.; three grandchildren, D.J. Purvis, Jessica Wilson, and Matthew Smith; four great-grandchildren, Matt Wilson, Morgan Wilson, Nick Wilson and Reign Smith; one great-great-granddaughter, Sophia Wilson; and three sisters, Barbara Wagner, Faye Lassiter, and Louise Hankins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Debbie Smith and one brother, Junior Hayes.

To honor her wishes no services will be held.
