Jimmie Clifton Bridges, 86, a resident of Raleigh Road, died Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the home of his daughter in Nashville. Born on January 18, 1937 in Wake County, he was the son of the late Robert Eulon Bridges and Margaret Bridgers Bridges. Jimmie was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired tobacco buyer for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and was a member of Fuller Chapel Church where he was formerly in charge of the ushers. He loved playing Bluegrass music and played every chance he could, playing with the guys at the cabin, the Ridgeway Opry House, service stations, or where anyone wanted to listen. A memorial service with Military Honors will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 6:30 PM at Fuller Chapel Christian Church by the Rev. Tammy Ayscue. He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Jenny” Edwards Bridges of the home; one daughter, Shellie B. Currin (Dennis) of Nashville; one sister, Alice B. Edwards of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Cassie Upton (Chris), Afton Eagle (Eugene), Foster Bridges, Perry Currin (Nicole), Reid Bridges, Peyton Currin; and Lorah Beth Futrell (Drew); seven great grandchildren, Addison Woodruff, Isaac Upton, Aiden Woodruff, Sam Upton, Elaina Eagle, Emily Upton, and James Upton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Tim Bridges and Mark Bridges. The family will receive friends following the service Thursday night in the Fellowship Hall at Fuller Chapel Church and at other times they will be at the home.
