HENDERSON- John Lewis Amos, 49, of Deerfield Beach, Florida & 1525 Hamlett Drive, died Monday, September 30, 2019 at UNC Medical Center.Born in Anniston, AL on February 10, 1970, he was the son of Sue Amos Young (Phil) of Henderson and the late Lewis Jerone Amos.John was a graduate of Vance Senior High, UNC Chapel Hill where he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and The Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art.He was employed with Digital Gaming Corporation as a computer animator.He was also a member of The First Baptist Church Henderson where a memorial service will be held Friday, October 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Ronald S. Cava and Dr. Glenn Phillips officiating.
John was blessed with amazing friends and family. The support of loved ones through his life and illness was true testament to the impact John had on so many.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Lark Amos of the home; his son, Ian Lewis Amos; two sisters, Susan A. Reaves (Hank) of Greensboro and Merri A. March (Ken) of Rockwood, TN; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean G. Lark and Dr. Marion D. Lark of Henderson; and his brother-in-law, Jonathan Lark (Reba) of Durham; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the home and immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Scott Mauney, Kelly Sessoms, Scott Trott, Chip Landon, Lance Miller, Dink Thompson, Lance Stewart, Rod Gray, Thomas Tezak, Matt Carvajal, Brendan Walton, Rich Sisson, and Roy Papp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SECU Family House at UNC Medical Center, 123 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517 where he was lovingly cared for during treatment; or First Baptist Church Youth Fund, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536, supporting a ministry that was formative early in his spiritual development.
