John Hugh Belongie

OXFORD- John Hugh Belongie, 52, of Royal Road, died Friday, January 1, 2021 at his home.Born in Goldsboro on May 25, 1968, he was the son of the late Alfred Fredrick Belongie and Shelby Bass Belongie of Goldsboro.John was a law enforcement officer, serving the cities of Wilson and Henderson before retiring from the Henderson Police Department with the rank of Sargent.He was an avid New England Patriots fan and exercised religiously.
A private memorial service will be held.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughters, Samantha L. "Sam" Slominski
and husband, Michael, of Raleigh and Shelby A. "Alex" Belongie of Henderson; his granddaughter, Anna Lee Belongie; his sister, Terry Belongie of Goldsboro and his dog, "Daisy."
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lee Ann C. Belongie.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Henderson Police Department.
