HENDERSON- John Russell Hoyle, Sr., age 86, a resident of 1552 Lynne Avenue, died Friday, September 02, 2011 at his home.Born in Vance County on November 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Lena Smith Hoyle and David Green Hoyle.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II and was the retired owner and operator of Hoyles TV and Tropical Fish.Mr. Hoyle was a charter member of West Hill Presbyterian PCA.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 PM at Liberty Christian Church by the Reverend Doug Addington.
Mr. Hoyle is survived by two grandsons, Jason B. Hoyle and wife, Stephanie of Henderson, and John R. Hoyle, III and wife, Paula of Wake County; two great-granddaughters, Mary Barkley Hoyle and Kate Hoyle, who were the light of his life; and a daughter-in-law, Vickie Vollmer.He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Alexine B. Hoyle of Henderson; a nephew, Dr. Wilson S. Hoyle, Jr. and wife, Jackie of Henderson; two great-nephews, Wilson Hoyle III and wife, Kate B. Hoyle, and George David Hoyle and wife, Harriet C. Hoyle; two great-nieces, Suzanne H. Cheever and husband, Chris, and Joy H. Suther and husband, John; five great great nephews; and three great great nieces.
Mr. Hoyle was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Bergmoser Hoyle; his son; John R. Hoyle, Jr.; and his brother, Wilson S. Hoyle.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Liberty Christian Church Cemetery and at other times they will be at the home at 1552 Lynne Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Vance County Relay For Life, P.O. Box 914, Henderson, NC 27536.
