John "Jay" Thomas Chappell, Jr.

John T. Chappell, Jr. HENDERSON- John “Jay” Thomas Chappell, Jr., 49, of Henderson, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Born December 8, 1973 in Vance County, he was the son of Patricia Matthews Munn of Henderson and John Thomas Chappell, Sr. of Henderson. He was a self-employed painter and an avid fisherman. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. by Rev. George Williams. In addition to his mother and father, Jay is survived by three daughters, Victoria Weiss (Chris) of Raleigh, Kristen Chappell (Webster) of Zebulon, and Emeri Chappell of Henderson; two sisters, Kim Orr of Henderson and Brianna Honeycutt of Oxford; three step-brothers, Randy Munn of Raleigh, Mike Munn (Nickie) of Gatesville, TX, and Jeff Munn (Joan) of Henderson; his step-father, Raymond Munn of Henderson; his step-mother, Pam Honeycutt of Oxford; four grandchildren, Bella, Lucas, Alivia and Skylar; and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Matthews of Henderson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John J. Matthews, Buddy and Sudie Chappell, and Bertha Lyles. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 2, 2023 and Sunday, September 3, 2023 at the home of Patricia and Raymond Munn, 520 Parham Road, Henderson, NC 27536.
