John Lee "Buck" Kearney, 72, a resident of 341 Ridge Circle Road, died Friday, June 5, 2020 at Maria Parham Health from injuries received in a tractor accident.Born in Franklin County on July 27, 1947, he was the son of the late Willie Lee Kearney and Betty Overby Kearney.Buck proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.He was a retired Bridge Supervisor with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and was a member of the American Legion.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Allen Ayscue.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Ayscue Kearney of the home; two daughters, Tanya Barnett (Glenn Dement) and Lenis Robertson of Henderson; two grandchildren, Justin Barnett (Brittany) and Megan Newton (Billy); five great grandchildren, Ethan Barnett, Aubree Newton, Noah Barnett, Maddison Barnett, Bentley Newton; four sisters, Sandra Roberson, Alice Newhouse, Shirley Oakley, and Susan Perkinson; and one brother, Dennis Kearney.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jimmy Robertson; one great grandson, Hunter Barnett; and one sister, Peggy Leonard.
