CLARKSVILLE, VA- John Albert Moody, 84, of Ponderosa Lane, died Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at his home. Born in Granville County on June 12, 1938, he was the son of the late Charlie Frazier Moody and Daisy Elliott Moody. He was a retired tobacco farmer and adjusted hail and federal crop insurance for multiple companies. John was one of the founders and was the first Fire Chief of the Townsville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Rock Spring Baptist Church where graveside funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM by Rev. Gary Brummitt and Rev. Milton Abbott. He is survived by his wife, Rose Brewer Moody, of the home; three sons, Mark Moody and wife, Tracey of Clarksville, Gerald Moody and wife, Kim of Townsville, and Cale Moody of Clarksville; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn M. Milstein and husband, Justin and Seth Moody; and one great grandson, Bryce Milstein; a brother, Charles Moody; and a sister-in-law, Betty Moody. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Moody and Sidney Moody. Serving as pallbearers will be Seth Moody, Justin Milstein, Will Peeden, Kenny Forbes, Mike Nelms, Nick Gazaleh, Tony Moody and Jeremy Moody. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and at other times at the home, 25 Ponderosa Lane, Clarksville, VA, 23927.
