John Hartwell Newhouse, Sr.

LUMBERTON- Mr. John Hartwell Newhouse, 86, of Warwick Road, died Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Universal Health Care in Oxford.Born in Vance County on October 12, 1934, he was the son of the late John Newhouse and Velma West Newhouse. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam.He worked as the foreman of a construction company.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Williamson Family Cemetery by Dr. Michael Grant.
He is survived by his wife, Merlean Bell Newhouse of the home; three daughters, Brenda Newhouse of Henderson, Annette Eatmon of Kittrell, Deborah Parrish and husband, Jerry of Henderson; a son, Josepth Newhouse and wife Mattie of Sumter, SC; 15 grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Hartwell Newhouse, Jr.; and two brothers, Roy Newhouse and George Lee Newhouse.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
