John Paul was a graduate of North Carolina State University.He came back to Henderson and started teaching at Henderson High School in 1962 through 1968.He then taught at Vance Academy from 1968 to 1977.He taught in the Warren County School System from 1978 to 1993, when he retired.
John Paul had many interests in life.He loved to travel, especially to U.S. state parks.He also was an avid photographer.His greatest passion was teaching.He spent 30 plus years of his working life bringing algebra and advanced math to thousands of students.
John Paul was a member of First Baptist Church where a memorial service will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 by Rev. Ron Cava beginning at 2:00 PM. Prior to the service, friends may gather in the fellowship hall at 1:00 PM for cookies and punch.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536.
