HENDERSON-John Wilkins "J. W." Moody, 93, a resident of Henderson, died Sunday, September 27, 2020, in a local nursing home.Born on September 5, 1927 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Emmitt Marshall Moody and Lula Keeton Moody.Mr. Moody proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.He was owner and operator for 51 years of Farm Tractor and Equipment Company.He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Men’s Bible Class, the Middleburg Ruritan Club, and was a former member of the Henderson Lion’s Club.
A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Gardens on Tuesday at 11:00 AM by Rev. Amy Russell.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy McLemore Ayscue Moody of Henderson; one step-daughter, Nancy A. Baker of High Point; one step-son, David T. Ayscue, III of Delaware, Ohio; four step-grandchildren; one sister, Edna M. Woodlief of Raleigh; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends, Bill Edwards, Donnie Hogge and Ted Bowen.Mr. Moody was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Dorsey Moody; four brothers, Edward M. Moody, Calvin W. Moody, Allen G. Moody and Daniel M. Moody; and a sister, Pearl M. Spain.
