HENDERSON- Johnny Lee “Scoot” Cheaves, Jr., 60, of Satterwhite Point Road, died Sunday May 11, 2025 at Maria Parham Health. Born June 21, 1964 in Franklin County, he was the son of Joyce Pendergrass Stone of Henderson and the late Johnny Lee Cheaves, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his faithful dog, “Buddy.” He was the owner and operator of Scoot’s Automotive and was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home by Pastor Brian Rosengrant. Scoot is survived by his wife, Beverly Hutchins Cheaves of the home; his daughter, Jessica Cheaves of the home; two sisters, Angie C. Whitley (Tony) of Rocky Point and Leigh Ann Griffis (Ryan) of Holly Springs; his nieces and nephews, L.T. Whitley of Rocky Point, Coley Whitley of Wilmington, Ryleigh Griffis and Grayson Griffis, both of Holly Springs; Lindsey Bobbitt of Henderson, who he thought of as a daughter; Victor Jasso, who he thought of as a son, of Warrenton; and his father-in-law, Ralph Hutchins of Clarksville, VA. The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday at J.M. White Funeral Home.
