Joseph "J. C." Carroll Bell, Jr.

Joseph Carroll “J. C.” Bell, Jr, 85, a resident of Rollins Avenue, died Tuesday, October 18, 2022. Born in Vance County on September 30, 1937, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Bell, Sr. and Elizabeth Grissom Bell. “J. C.” was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany and Cambodia as a sharp-shooter, and was retired from the Glass Plant, formerly Lauren’s Glass Co., where he worked for 37 years. He was a die-hard Duke fan, enjoyed nature, feeding the squirrels, and going to the beach. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Ronald S. Cava. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Owen Bell; two daughters, Sharon Bell and Catherine Bell of Henderson; one son, Joseph Carroll “J. J.” Bell, III and wife Amy of Youngsville; four grandchildren, Connor Joseph Bell, Ryan Nelson Bell, Teagan Haverland Bell, and Ward Alexander Haverland Bell, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Bell Rogers and Carolyn Bell Sumners. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home. “J. C.” and Nancy were known to all of his kid’s friends as “Ma & Pa Bell”.
