Joseph Levon Joe Lewis, Sr., age 66, a resident of 97 Vincent Hoyle Road, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Born on February 13, 1947 in Marion, SC, he was the son of Ernestine Johnson Lewis of Oxford and the late Marvin Lewis, Sr., and was the widower of Linda VanWort Lewis.
He was the owner and operator of Joe Lewis Mobile Home Moving Service an attended South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by his children, Sherry Lewis Burgess, Joseph Levon Buddy Lewis, II, and Sandra Leigh Lewis all of Henderson; his fiance, Jenny Harris of Henderson; five sisters, Barbara Lewis of Henderson, Jeanette L. Hicks and Geraldine Lewis of Youngsville, Brenda Gail L. Autrey and Betty Jean L. Brogden of Creedmoor; two brothers, Marvin Lewis, Jr. of Raleigh and Roger Lewis of Oxford; and five grandchildren, Chuckie Burgess, Nickki Burgess, Kristen Marie Lewis, Jessy Lewis, and Joey Lewis; two step grandchildren, Anthony Bloss and Chelsea Collier; and one great granddaughter, Emilie Burgess.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 1:30 until 3 pm at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.At other times they will be at the home at 97 Vincent Hoyle Road.
Serving as pall bearers will be Curtis Brame, Scotty Parrish, Sam Phillips, Jamie Perkinson, Kenny Kidd, Donald Anthony, Buster Roberts, Bernard Silver, Stuart Clark and Danny Lunsford.
