Joseph Eugene "Joey" West, Sr., age 62, a resident of 1791 NC Hwy. 39 South, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Maria Parham Health after a brief illness.Born on July 25, 1957 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Bennie Junior West and Barbara Coghill Mathews.Joey was retired from A W North Carolinaand was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church where he was an assistant Sunday School teacher.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 PM at Blessed Hope Baptist Church by Dr. Donald A. Perkinson.Burial will follow in the Cokesbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Joseph E. "Joey" West, Jr. of Henderson; one daughter, Jennifer West of Henderson; two brothers, Norwood Thomas West of Jacksonville and Robert Dennis West of Henderson; one granddaughter, Alexis Talley; one aunt, Norma Coghill Bradsher; and one uncle, Mike CoghillIn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren West and Wayne West.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at Blessed Hope Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bears will be Shawn Pegram, Jim Pegram, Christopher Pegram, Mike West, Reuben West, and J. W. Tunstall.
