Sylvia Joyce Hunt, age 77, a resident of 1818 Raleigh Road, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, in a local nursing home.Born in Vance County on May 4, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Philip Hunt and Mabel Boyd Hunt.Sylvia was a homemaker and a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm at Union Chapel United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joe Bostic.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by one sister, Ruth Hunt Branch of Henderson; two nephews, James Edward Branch, III and wife Sarah of Potomac Falls, Virginia, and Michael Applewhite and wife, Tawyna of Wake Forest; one great niece, Lauren Rebecca Branch; and one great nephew, Adam Winder Branch.
The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home and on Saturday immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Union Chapel United Methodist Church. At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Dale Wilson, Brandon Harris, Woody Evans, Joel Stone, David Stone, and Samuel Stone.
