Joyce Satterwhite Stevenson, age 69, a resident of 476 Spring Valley Lake Road, died Thursday, November 17, 2011, at her home.Born on January 18, 1942 in Delaware County, PA., she was the daughter of the late William Joseph Satterwhite and Clara Allgood Satterwhite.
Mrs. Stevenson attended Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, and was a former operator for Carolina Telephone Company, and was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant.After her husband George passed away in 1999, she was a weather observer for NOAA.She was a member of The Church Of The Holy Innocents where she sang in the church choir, served on the Altar Guild, and was a member of the Episcopal Church Women.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 pm at The Church Of The Holy Innocents by the Rev. Donald A. Lowery.Burial will follow in the Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, John Stevenson and Edward Stevenson of the home; one sister, Anne Satterwhite Edwards of Macclesfield, NC; one niece, Elizabeth Ann Edwards of Raleigh; two nephews, Bill Canipe and wife, Kim of Clayton and Bobby Canipe of Elizabeth City; one great niece Madison Canipe; and one great nephew, Isaac Edwards.She was preceded in death by her husband, George Stevenson.
The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home at 476 Spring Valley Lake Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be John Abbott, George Abbott, Bill Canipe, Bobby Canipe, Billy Satterwhite, and Robert Hilliard.
