Julian Wheeler Ivey, 89, a resident of Henderson, died Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at Franklin Oaks Nursing & Rehab.Born on January 14, 1931 in Vance County, he was the son of the late James Willis Ivey and Vinna Leah Barker Ivey, and was the widower of Edna Marie Ivey.
Julian was a Veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War and was a retired truck driver for Yancey Trucking Company. He was the oldest living member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be heldFriday at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church by Rev. Bob Inskeep.
He is survived by a son, Timothy Lane Ivey of Henderson, a daughter, Deborah Ivey Coley of Oxford; three sisters, Pam Ivey Lee, and Hazel Ivey Vaughan of Henderson and Ann Ivey Guerrant of Greenville; one brother, James Billy Ivey of Henderson; and seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Glen Ivey and Michael Ivey, a daughter, Teresa Ann Ivey, a sister, Marie Ivey Reese, and a great grandson, Justin Michael Coley.
If anyone wishes to view Mr. Ivey, they may do so on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.
