RALEIGH-Kathryn Roberta Cannon Fleming, age 92, a resident of Magnolia Glen in Raleigh, and a former resident of Westlake Drive in Henderson, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at the William M. Dunlap Hospice Center.
Born on October 10, 1921 in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Robert Cannon and Kathryn Florence Westfall Cannon Littlepage, and was the widow of Charles Joseph Fleming, Jr.
When she was six years old she moved to Washington State and when she was a teenager she and her family moved to Los Angeles, California.She was formerly employed with Lockheed Martin before moving to Warren County.Roberta was an avid bridge player participating in several bridge clubs including the Sip & Dip Bridge Club which met around her backyard pool. Roberta loved good times and especially dancing at Allens Alley.She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson and a former member of Shocco United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 am in the Leathers Memorial Chapel of First Baptist Church by Rev. Mark Hopper.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Graman Fleming and wife Claudia of Winston-Salem, and Dennis Byron Fleming of Hot Springs, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Gray Fleming and wife Diana of Atlanta, GA, John Fleming and wife, Julie and Hesta Fleming Monday and husband Kirk of Raleigh; and eight great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather Art Littlepage; two brothers, Dwight Westfall Cannon and Lee Littlepage; and one sister, Eileen Cannon.
A reception will follow in the church parlor at First Baptist Church immediately following the service.
