HENDERSON-Karon Ruth Bush, age 67, a resident of 704 E. Montgomery Street, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Duke Medical Center.Born on May 19, 1945 in Lexington County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James Felder Bush and Sarah Watkins Bush. Karon was a graduate of the University Of North Carolina at Greensboro.She received her Masters Degree from the University Of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Law Degree from North Carolina Central University.She was a retired educator, having taught math at Chapel Hill High School, and was currently serving as President of the North Carolina Retired Teachers Association, a Director of The Boys & Girls Club, and was actively involved in all area civic affairs.She was also a member of the Henderson Kiwanis Club of which she was a former President.
To honor Karons wishes, there will be no service.
She is survived by her sister, Norma B. Medlin of Henderson; two brothers, James R. Bush and Roy Z. Bush both of Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Evelyn B. Tuck.
