HENDERSON- Katherine Louise Patelidas Frazier, 89, of Red Bud Circle, died peacefully, surrounded by family, Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at her home. Born in Buncombe County, and reared in Asheville, she was the daughter of the late Ella Bogle Patelidas and Spiros Arthur Patelidas. After earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Duke University, Katherine worked at Maria Parham Hospital with Dr. Robert Currin and retired from Vance Granville Community College where she was a nursing instructor. She was a member of First Baptist Church Henderson where she volunteered with the Children’s ARK program, was a member of the Sue Kelly Circle, and taught children’s Sunday School for many years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. by Dr. Ronald S. Cava at First Baptist Church of Henderson. Burial will follow at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Katherine is survived by her husband, Louis Opie Frazier, Jr. of the home; her son, Joseph Gary Frazier of Henderson; two daughters, Pamela Frazier Thompson and husband, Randy and Katherine Gayle Frazier Scott and husband, Greg, both of Burlington; four grandchildren, Laura Ferrara and husband, Jason, Rebecca Hodge and husband, Rocky, Sadie Scott and Peggy Scott; four great-grandchildren, Celia Ferrara, Gabriella Ferrara, Jameson Hodge, John Opie Hodge; two brothers, William Patelidas and wife, Pat and Thomas Patelidas and wife, Mary Ann; and a sister, Judy Morris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Mann and Janie McJunkin; and two brothers, Joseph Patelidas and James Patelidas. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at the “Frazier Home Place” and at other times at the home. Serving as pallbearers will be George David Hoyle, Wilson Hoyle, III, Micheal Mann, Andre Howes, Ray Cheever, Daniel Currin, Kenneth McJunkin and Jeff Patelidas. The family would like to extend special thanks to Katherine’s caregivers, Josephine Glover, Carolyn Hilliard and Rena Kearney. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 75, Henderson, NC 27536 for the “Backpack Buddies” fund.
