OXFORD-Kathleen Matthews Critcher, age 81, a resident of 123 Critcher Road, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, at her home.Born in Granville County on February 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Thomas P. Matthews and Sarah Ethel Hutchins Matthews.
She was formerly employed in the Granville County Tax Office and was a member of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Tabbs Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Ken Compton and the Rev. Lamar Wheeler.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Henry Critcher of the home; one daughter, Cathy C. Huggins and husband, Michael Huggins of Concord; one sister, Cilla M. Fox of Conover; two brothers, Faucette Matthews of Henderson and Babe R. Matthews of Bullock; two grandchildren, Lindsay Dayne Huggins and Haley Michelle Huggins.She was preceded in death by three sisters, Etta Jane M. Tillotson, Belle M. Fox, and Margaret M. Robinette.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be J. W. Currin, Ronald Currin, Harry Matthews, Chuck Tillotson, Mike Duke, Danny Hart, Ricky Watson, Andy Roberts, and Jim Brooks.
