HENDERSON-Katie Mae Wilson Newton, age 79, a resident of 992 Maple Street, died Friday, August 23, 2013, at Brantwood Nursing Home in Oxford.Born in Mecklenburg County, VA on November 6, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Felix Roy Wilson and Lillian Reams Wilson.She was a homemaker and a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Blessed Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Donnie Perkinson.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Foy Newton of the home; two daughters, Betty N. Garrett and husband, Maynard and Elizabeth Gail Tippett and husband, Frank all of Henderson; one son, Charles Edward Newton and wife, Kathi of Myrtle Beach, SC; one brother, Roy Mac Wilson and wife, Joyce of Oxford; two sisters, Darline Vaughan of Norfolk, VA and Frances Hite of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Jennifer Stanley and husband, Jarrod, Chasity Szabo and husband, Luke, Leslie Newton, and Ian Newton; three great grandchildren, Autumn Stanley, Ryse Szabo, and Jayse Szabo; and her special friends, Linda Cordell, Pat Forehand, and Ruth Boyd.She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Williamson.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 until 8:30 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.At other times they will be at the home of Frank and Gail Tippett at 1530 U.S. 158 By-Pass.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Todd Owens, Steve Cordell, Mike Rounceville, Larry Forehand, Shawn Pegram and Bobby West.
