MOREHEAD CITY- Katie Marshall Swecker, entered peaceful rest with family by her side on December 31, 2017, following a brief stay in Hospice care. Born In Henry County Va. on December 11, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Alice Wilson Marshall and Harmon Marshall.
A kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and loyal friend, Katie was known for her beautiful smile and happy-go-lucky nature. She was an amazing listener, loved to be with friends and family and was always up for entertaining, activities, travel and fun. Katie loved things of beauty including flowers and cultivated a welcoming home that made everyone want to be with her.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, John Marvin Swecker, Jr. Katie and John did everything together for over 50 years. They lived in Danville, VA; Haleyville, ALA; Morehead City, NC; Knoxville, TN and Henderson, NC. Together, they touched the lives of hundreds of loyal friends and enjoyed activities in the community, church, travel, entertaining, sports and family fun.
Funeral Services will be held Monday January 8, 2018 at 1pm at the First Baptist Church of Henderson by Dr. Ronald S. Cava.
She is survived by daughters Stacey, Brady and Lyn; grandchildren Mallory, Casey, Isabel and John; and her beloved sister Edna Combs.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son John Marvin Swecker III (Jay) who died tragically at the age of 23 and sisters, Patricia and Loretta.
