HENDERSON-Elizabeth Kay Mangum Kittrell, 77, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 6, 2017.Born September 15, 1939 in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Pauline Hunt and Arthur Jarvis Mangum.
Kay was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, the Kingdom Seekers Sunday School Class, Tuesday Morning Bible Study, Adult Choir, and Womens Circle, and served on numerous church-related committees.She was a special monthly contributor to her church newsletter, always ending her articles with her well known saying, Life is Good.She retired from the former Leggetts Department Store after 20 years of service and up until recently volunteered weekly at ACTS and continued meeting quarterly with her Oxford High School Class of 1957 classmates.She was an avid reader and for years friends and family enjoyed her many special talents which included her beautiful paintings, sewing, quilting, Santa Clauses, pickles, and fruitcakes.She is also known for her ancestry research and compiled family histories for the Wrenn and Kittrell families.These printings are greatly valued in the homes of family members across the country.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Billy Norris Kittrell and sister, Patsy Mangum Morris. She is survived by one daughter, Deborah Edwards and husband, David of Henderson; one son, Scott Kittrell and wife, Jessica of Pinehurst; twin granddaughters, Caroline Goodwin and husband, Andy, and Ciara Edwards all of Raleigh; granddaughter, Savannah Kittrell; and grandson, Grey Kittrell both of Charlotte; one sister, Jane Currin of Creedmoor; many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins; and one adopted daughter, Joyce Moore.
A private burial will be held by the family.A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 pm at Rehoboth United Methodist Church by the Rev. Will Breedlove.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 12:30 until 2 PMin the Fellowship Hall at Rehoboth United Methodist Church, 2975 Old Watkins Road, Henderson, NC27537. At other times they will be at the home of Deborah and David Edwards, 2102 Coleman Place, Henderson, NC27536.
