HENDERSON-Kenneth Rollins Riggan, age 77, a resident of 196 Cokesbury Court, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center.Born in Vance County on February 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Haywood L. Riggan and Lessie Currin Riggan.
He was retired from the United States Army and was a member of the Army Reserve and National Guard for more than 20 years.He was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Aubrey Florence.Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by two sisters, Dottie Satterfield and Mae Abbott both of Henderson; two step-sons, Bryan K. Bartlett and Bobby Bartlett both of Virginia; one step-daughter, Peggy B. Gregory of Virginia; their mother, Nancy R. Riggan of Virginia; three step-granddaughters; four nieces and five nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Hunt.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Mae and Furman Abbott at 245 Kemps Lane, off Stewart Farm Road.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Robbie Ayscue, Millard T. Abbott, Dennis Currin, Jay Causey, Jonathan Matthews, and Joshua Matthews.Serving as honorary pall bearers will be members of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
