Larry Denny, 78, of Monroe, GA, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, with his loving and devoted wife at his side, listening to his favorite bluegrass gospel music after an extended period of declining health. He was born on December 30, 1946, in Oxford, NC, to Clarence and Ruby Denny. Larry married Sharon Guill on July 6, 1984, and together they shared 40 wonderful years filled with love and devotion. Larry was known for his passion for bluegrass music and NASCAR racing. He wasn’t just a fan but actively participated as a skilled guitar player, pit worker, and late-model stock car driver. He also had a knack for fixing anything and was always ready to lend a helping hand to others in need. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruby Denny. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Denny of Monroe, GA; his children, Tammy Long (Van Long), Angela Vaughn (Timmy Vaughn), Jessica Davis (Kenny Davis), all of Roxboro, NC, Mandi Dale (Bill Dale) and Brian Keith Jones, both of Loganville, GA; an “adopted” daughter, Megan Jones (David Lamb); and 12 grandchildren: Lindsey, Drew, Jordan, Tyler, Mollie, Kinley, Presley, Hannah, Kailie, Caroline, Stevie, and Faith, and “adopted” grandchildren Kendal, James, Gabi, and Isa. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held Saturday February 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sharon Baptist Church by the Rev. Victor Blackwell. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Western Carolina Emergency Network to support families devastated by Hurricane Helene in the mountain region of NC, where Larry often enjoyed bluegrass festivals. Donations can be made online at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/disaster/hurricane-helene/ Larry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. His family takes comfort in the knowledge of eternal families and in knowing that he is now whole and free from pain.
