WARRENTON-Larry Limer, 74, a resident of Warrenton, NC, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at his home.Born on March 31, 1943 in Warren County, he was the son of the late Howard M. Limer and Ethel Thompson Limer Westmoreland.
A retired Army Major, he served two tours in Vietnam, his first with a scout dog platoon attached to the 101st Airborne Division. He obtained his Masters Degree while in the Army and was an avid reader with a special interest in history.He owned an H&R Block business in Roxboro, NC, and in his later years enjoyed biking - his longest trip being a solo trip to Alaskaand was an active member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 2 pm in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Reverend Margaret Sanford.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ginny Browning Limer of the home; three sons, Llywellyn Limer of Youngsville, David Limer of Durham, and Howard Limer of Norlina; two step-daughters, Kim Schneider of Pittsboro and Heather Maksymiak of Fuquay-Varina; six grandchildren, Joshua Limer, Cassidy Limer, Caroline Schneider, Shaun Schneider, Amelia Maksymiak and Alexander Maksymiak.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm at the funeral home prior to the memorial service.
