OXFORD-Larry Tinsley Smith, Sr., age 74, a resident of 5076 Dorsey Road, died on Monday, July 02, 2018, at Senior Citizens Home in Henderson.Born on December 20, 1943 in Lawrenceville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Samuel Tinsley Smith and Thelma Arrington Smith.Larry served in the North Carolina National Guard and was the owner and operator of Little Debbie Snack Cake for 30 years.He was a member of the American Legion Post 79 in South Hill, Virginia for more than 50 years and was a former Commander.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Thursday at 11 am in LaCrosse Cemetery by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.
He is survived by one daughter, Tabatha Smith Powers and husband, Steve of Oxford; one son, Larry Tinsley Smith, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Carrollton, Virginia; two step-sons, Tony Hall of South Hill, Virginia and Scott Hall of LaCrosse, Virginia; four grandchildren, Candace Martin, Lindsey Faulk, Jacob Smith, Hannah Smith; two great grandchildren, Lillian Martin and Ayden Raub; two sisters, Joyce Lett of South Hill, Virginia and Janet Deel of Henderson.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wesley Ronald Smith.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the American Legion, 219 Brook Avenue, South Hill, Virginia23970, and at other times at the home of Tabatha and Steve Powers at 5076 Dorsey Road, Oxford.
