Laura Wieland Rubin

HENDERSON- Laura Sue Wieland Rubin, 86, of Hedrick Drive, died Monday, December 23, 2024 at ECU Health. Born May 4, 1938 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Icz Wieland and Ernest Anthony Wieland. She is survived by her husband, Ronald J. Rubin of the home; her son, Ronald “Ron” Douglas Morgan (Susan) of Macclesfield, NC; her daughter, Lisa Erickson (Ray) of Newmarket, NH; three grandchildren, Morgan Lee (Erickson) Prestridge (Zyan), Tyler Morgan, and Samuel Lawrence Erickson; a great-grandchild, Lyla Shelby Prestridge; her sister, Barbara Wieland of Sarasota, FL; and brother, Doug Wieland (Carol) of Yardley, PA. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Helen Wieland of Sarasota, FL. and her brother, Roger Wieland (Beth) of Oneida, NY. A resident of Henderson for over twenty years, Laura was an active member of Kerr Lake Country Club, and she loved supporting organizations such as the American Cancer Society and a host of other local organizations. She enjoyed playing golf and gardening, and she had a knack for interior decorating. She loved preparing her house for all seasons and holidays. Houseboating on Kerr Lake was also something Laura loved to do with friends and family. Laura was a sports fan, and tennis was one of her favorites. There will be a reception to honor Laura’s life on May 4, 2025, at 1080 Hedrick Drive from 1 to 4pm.
