HENDERSON-Lawrence Wayne Hendricks, 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 at his home on Louis Williams Rd. Born January 30, 1952 in Vance Co. he was the son of the late Lawrence William Hendricks and Mattie Cora Smith Hendricks. Wayne was a graduate of Vance Senior High School, Vance Granville Community College, where he majored in Computer Science and attended North Carolina State University. He had 30 years in law enforcement in our community, working for the Henderson Police Department and the Vance County Sheriff’s Department. He grew up attending Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Chaplin Sarah Wilson. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens. Wayne is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Duke Hendricks; one daughter, Machelle Thomas (Jason) of Oxford; two sons, Eric Hendricks of Charlotte and Stephen Robinson (Nicki) of Henderson; three granddaughters, Otelia Thomas and Olivia Thomas both of Oxford and Kendall Robinson (Taylor Strickland) of Henderson; one grandson, William Robinson (Kiara) of Norlina; one great granddaughter, Gracelynn Strickland of Henderson; one brother, Terry Hendricks (Naomi) of Ray City GA; two nephews, Matthew Hendricks (Tayler) and their children Sloane, Wesley and Castor all of Gainesville VA , and Joseph Hendricks (Alyssa) and their children Emma, Eliza, and Baby James all of Enigma GA. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at the J. M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home. Serving as active pallbearers will be Deputies of the Vance County Sheriff’s Department. Honorary pallbearers will Law Enforcement Officers attending the service. The family would like to say a special thank you to his hospice nurses Melissa and Kristin.
