HENDERSON-Lawrence Augustus Wortham, 88, a resident of 514 Allison Cooper Road, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Maria Parham Medical Center after a brief illness.Born on January 15, 1927 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Eugene Wortham and Myrtle Stainback Wortham Woodlief.He was a retired co-owner of the former W & E Equipment who had the John Deer tractor franchise.
Lawrence was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and a member of Middleburg Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mable Ellington Wortham of the home; one daughter, Judy Wortham Hamm (Mike) of Henderson; one granddaughter, Kelly Irene Hamm; and his great "granddog" Bailey.He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilton Wortham.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 am in Middleburg Cemetery by the Rev. Jake Roberson.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Wednesday at Middleburg Cemetery and at other times at the home.
