HENDERSON-Lelia Chastain Brigham, age 73, a resident of 641 Lakeview Drive, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at her home.Born on October 2, 2941 in Winston-Salem, she was the daughter of the late Dr. L. L. Chastain and Louise White Chastain, and was the widow of John Stovall Royster Brigham.
Lelia attended Ringling School of Art.She was a retired Lt. Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol, and was an Art Instructor at Vance Granville Community College for the past 45 years.She was a member of the N. C. Water Color Society and the Kerr Lake Art Society of which she was co-founder and a past treasure, and was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2 pm at Elmwood Cemetery by the Rev. David Grissom.
She is survived by two sisters, Linda C. Ligon of Tryon, NC and Gale C. Morgan of Birmingham, AL.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers contributions made to a charity of ones choice.
