HENDERSON- Leon Quentin Hedgepeth, 65, of Stanley Street, died Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Maria Parham Health.Born May 30, 1955 in Vance County, he was the son of Dorothy Stanley Hope and husband John, of Henderson and the late Eugene Franklin Hedgepeth.
He was retired from Merita Bread, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed wood working.He was also a member of Hermon United Methodist Church where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM by Rev. Tabitha Pate.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his wife, Kathy Harris Hedgepeth of the home; two daughters, Leigh Ann Powell and husband Al, of Greensboro and Amy Lynn Radford and husband Kevin, of Henderson; five grandchildren, Talon Horton, Ben Radford, Dolan Radford, Jessa Radford and Nathan Powell; and three brothers, Tim Hedgepeth, Todd Hope and David Hope.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Joy Hedgepeth.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday at Hermon from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
Serving as pallbearers will be Leon Pernell, Jim Johnson, Dale Lent, Josh Reavis, Justin Reavis, Joseph Hedgepeth and Kenneth Radford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hermon United Methodist Church, C/O Florence Pernell, 3144 Dabney Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
Attendees at the service and visitation are asked to wear appropriate face coverings and practice social distancing.
