Chesterfield, VA-Leonard Wayne Bennett, 61 of Chesterfield, VA, formerly of Henderson, passed away suddenly Tuesday November 7th at Chippenham Hospital.
Born on March 9th, 1956, in Vance County, he was the son of the late June Knott Bennett Finch and the late SMSgt (Ret) James Henry Bennett and the stepson of Crawford and Sheila Finch of Henderson. He was the grandson of the late Pauline and Norman Knott and Beuna and John Landon Bennett.
He was medically retired from Ryder Trucking, and was a member of Island Creek Church. Wayne was an avid NASCAR fan and loved fabricating and sanding on his beloved hotrod Vega. His health declined in 2005, but that never stopped him. In 2013, he lost his wife, Jayne Martin Bennett, suddenly and he missed her daily, now they are reunited at last. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. Over the past 4 years, Wayne traveled with his daughter and son-in-law because of his son-in-law being active duty military. Even though he missed his wife greatly, he enjoyed life every day until he was called home.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 3pm in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Marshall Neathery.
He is survived by his daughter Tina Bennett Ellis and husband James of Chesterfield; one son, Jonathan Bennett and wife, Stephanie of Henderson; and his beloved grandchildren, Penelope Ellis, Mallory Bennett, Tanner Bennett and Tyler Cain.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at J.M. White Funeral Home on Sunday. At other times, they will be at the home of Jonathan and Stephanie Bennett at 3599 Hicksboro Rd.
