Lewis "Junie" Marshall Overby, Jr.

Lewis Marshall “Junie” Overby, Jr., 80, a resident of Glebe Road, died peacefully Thursday, February 1, 2024 at his home. Born March 27, 1943 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Lewis Marshall Overby, Sr. and Evelyn Harris Overby . Junie was retired from the former Laurens Glass Co. where he worked for 48 years. He was a huge fan of Duke Basketball, and on most Saturdays you could find him working in his yard cutting his grass on his John Deere lawnmower. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church where graveside services will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM by John Price. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alice Ivey Overby of the home; a daughter, Donna Overby Wilder and fiancé, Al Bolton of Henderson; three sons, Jeffrey Scott Overby, Mark Keith Overby, and Dean Lewis Overby (Kathryn) of Henderson; six grandchildren, Michael Tucker Wilder (Jordon), Chandler Overby Cook (Nick), Connor Briggs Overby and fiancée, Gabby Allen Emily Paige Overby and fiancée, Joe Shields, Anna Blake Overby and Marissa Kay Henderson; three great grandchildren, Addilyn Grace Wilder, Marshall Tate Wilder, Lainey Kate Wilder; one brother, Jackie Overby (Diane) of Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday following the service at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and at other times at the home. The family would like to give a SPECIAL thanks to the staff at Liberty Hospice Care for the loving and compassionate care they gave to Junie.
