Linda Stovall Montague

EMERALD ISLE- Linda Stovall Montague, 69, died Friday, July 28, 2023 at her home. Born September 20, 1953 in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Blanche Gold Stovall Montague and Robert Carroll Montague. As a child, Linda joined Oxford Baptist Church and was active there as well as at other local churches in their music ministries. After being awarded her bachelors degree in music education from East Carolina University, she continued her musical aspirations at Miami of Ohio earning a masters degree in music. She worked for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, OH for many years as a choir director, organist and in the children’s music education department. Upon moving to Covington, KY, she worked in the accounting department of St. Luke’s Health Alliance. Linda’s happiest days came when she retired to her beloved Emerald Isle where she resided with her feline companion, “Archie.” She had a gentle, jovial, generous soul and a free spirit. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Bullock Baptist Church by Dr. Eugene “Gus” Gillespie. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the church’s family life center. Linda is survived by her nephew, Robert Thomas Montague and wife, Heather, of Stovall, her niece, Anne Marie M. White and husband, Scott, of Henderson; her great-nephews, George Tazwell Montague and William Robert White; her great niece, Marie Scott White; and her sister-in-law, Fann Cutts Montague.
