Linwood Lewis Short, Jr.

HENDERSON- Linwood Lewis Short, Jr. of Wayview Road, died Thursday, February 09, 2023 at Maria Parham Health. Born September 30, 1944 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Mary Ann Peoples Short and Linwood Lewis Short, Sr. and was the widower of Betty Tart Short. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, a former Lieutenant with the Vance County Fire Department and the owner of Pest Management Authority. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM, by Rev. Tim Burgess in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Lewis is survived by his son, Brian K. Short and wife, Ann of Henderson; two step-daughters, Lynn Pegram Menikos and husband, Pete and Lisa Pegram Tharrington, all of Henderson; a step-son, Curt Pegram of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Alaina, Clay, Carmen, Rebecca, Tyler, Joshua and Caleb; and eight great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Douglas Logan, Patrick Brame, Chris Brame, Clay Bass, Carmen Bass, Troy Adams and Ben Hicks. The family will receive friends Tuesday prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at J.M. White Funeral Home. A visitation for close friends and family will be held at the home on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
