LOIS D. HAGWOOD
HENDERSON- Lois Davis Hagwood, age 86 died October 13, 2010 at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.She was born February 5th, 1924 in Wilson, NC to the late Lonnie and Gladie Davis.Lois was a graduate of Middlesex, NC High School.She was employed by the State of North Carolina at the Employment Security Commission and retired after 33 years of service.In 1986, Lois received The Order of the Long Leaf Pine from Governor James Martin.
Lois was an active member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church.She was a long time member of the Golden Age Club of which she served as president.She was also a lifetime member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.Most of all she enjoyed sitting on her back porch looking at the lake and being on the water.Lois was a caring and loving person whom many enjoyed being with.
Funeral services will be held at Flat Rock United Methodist Church on Monday at 11:00 am.Burial will follow in the Hollywood Cemetery in Middlesex, NC.
She is survived by two sons, James and wife, Barbara, of Henderson, and Dwight and wife, Linda of Charleston, SC; her grandchildren, Nancy Roberts of Gray, Maine and Jason Hagwood of Charleston, SC; her great grandchildren, Alexandrea and Andrew Roberts of Gray, Maine; and her sister-in-law, Pearl Davis of Raleigh.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Spurgeon Hagwood; and brother Roland Davis.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 until 10:45 am prior to the service at Flat Rock United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Flat Rock United Methodist Church, c/o Jennie Parrott, 1380 Horseshoe Bend Road, Henderson, NC 27537.
