ROCKINGHAM-Annie Laurie Tingen Short, 84, of 1919 Wheat Street, died Thursday,
May 21, 2015 at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital.Born in Granville County on November 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Abner Garrett and Laura Keeton Tingen and was the 11th of 14 children.She was a graduate of Townsville High School and Henderson Business College.She was a homemaker, and worked for ten years as a secretary for Roses Stores, Inc. in Henderson before relocating in 1959 to Rockingham where she worked several years as secretary for Aleo Manufacturing Credit Union.She was also a volunteer with Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rockingham.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Marrows Chapel United Methodist Church, 2828 Morgan Road, Henderson, NC 27537 with the Rev. Darrel Bowles officiating.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Allen Dorsey Short, Jr. and son, Greg Short of Rockingham; daughter, Allison Short of Southern Pines; two grandchildren, Lori Wilson of Rockingham and Matthew Hunsucker of Southern Pines; two great grandchildren, Jalen Terry and Janya Short; brother, David Tingen of Henderson; andsister, Peggy Tingen Cox of Bullock.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Essie Laura, Jennie and Leonia Tingen,Bessie Marrow Tingen Newton, Carolyn Tingen Wilson; and brothers, Ernest, Wilton, Charlie, Algie, Melvin, and A. G. Tingen.
The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6 until 8 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.
Serving as active pall bearers will be Mike Tingen, Marshall Tingen, Cam Tingen, Richard Cox, Steve Tingen, and Jim Simpson.
