HENDERSON-Mary Louise Matthews Varker, 89, a resident of 1245 Park Avenue, died on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Maria Parham Health.Born on December 2, 1928 in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late David Lee "Buck" Matthews and Julia West Matthews, and was the widow of Clarence Thomas "C.T." Varker.
Mrs. Varker was a homemaker and a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 pm in the J. M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ronnie Matthews and the Rev. George Williams.Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
She is survived by three sons, Patrick Thomas Varker of Raleigh, Carl Arnold Varker of Henderson and David Lee Varker of Kittrell; one sister, Jean Sams of Henderson; one brother, John Junius "J.J." Matthews of Henderson; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Walker; two sisters, Leona Williams and Marie Manning; two brothers, Jesse Matthews and Wayne Matthews; and one great grandson, Michael Lynn Travis, Jr.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2 until 3 pm at J. M. White Funeral Home.
Serving as pall bearers will be Howard Grissom Jr., Michael Grissom, Christopher Matthews, Steve Manning, James Manning and Coy Aiken.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Forest Hills Baptist Church, c/o Ronnie Matthews, 1023 Eastern Blvd., Henderson, NC27536.
