HENDERSON-Loyd Baum O’Neal, 93, a resident of 538 Gun Club Road, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at his home.Born in Dare County on February 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Lloyd Baum O’Neal, Sr. and Lillian Van Dyke O’Neal McDaniel.He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II, and was retired from Old Dominion Freight Line.He was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and was a former Deacon.
Memorial services with Military Honors will be held Saturday at 10:30 am at Poplar Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Tony Evans.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Pauline Hoyle O’Neal of the home; two daughters, Phyllis O’Neal Spyckaboer and husband, Doug of Oxford and Debbie O’Neal Minns and husband, A.J. of Rockport, Texas; one son, L. B. O’Neal, III of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Denise Daniels, Clifton O’Neal, Tyler O’Neal, Roxanne Benz, Marvin Reese, Jr., Zach Luce, Katie Whitten, and Beau Ramey; 11 great grandchildren, Jonathan Daniels, Matthew Daniels, Thomas Rogers, William Benz, Tiffany Williamson, Amanda Reese, Davion Luce, Jens Luce, Courtney Whitten, Grey Whitten, and Kristin Ramey;andtwo great great grandchildren.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends on Saturday immediately following the service in the Family Life Center at Poplar Creek Baptist Church.At other times they will be at the home.
