Lucy Lester Hope, age 91, a resident of Senior Citizens Nursing Home, and a former resident of Satterwhite Point Road, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013.Born on September 20, 1921 in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob E. Lester and Cora Mansfield Lester.She was retired from Roses Stores, Inc. and was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church, the Vance County Senior Center, and the United Methodist Women at Spring Valley United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM at Flat Rock United Methodist Church by the Rev. Will Breedlove, the Rev. Pam Gilliam, and the Rev. Cathy Hoyle.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by four daughters, Brenda H. Mustian, Deta H. Wright, and Lynn H..Veldkamp of Henderson, and Sue H. Foster of Louisburg; one son, Hartwell E. Hope of Henderson; one sister, Janie L. Edwards of Henderson; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence B. L .B. Hope.
The family will receive friends Saturday prior to the service from 12:00 until 2:00 PM at Flat Rock United Methodist Church.At other times they will be at the home of Lynn and Willie Veldkamp at 234 Country Lake Drive at Kerr Lake Country Club.
Serving as active pall bearers will be her grandsons, Morris Mustian, Robert Gill, M. J. Gimbar, Jacob Mustian, Paul Hope, and Steve Hope. Also serving will be Dennis Archer, and Kevin Pahl.
